October 1/14 is the Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God. As this is the patronal feast of our sister parish in Rochester, New York, we will not be holding services at Sts. Theodore Church that weekend to allow the faithful to join our brothers and sisters in Rochester in the celebration of their parish feast day. During the Divine Services, which will be celebrated by Metropolitan HILARION, our own Fr. Dcn. Andrew Hammond will be awarded the right to wear the double orarion in recognition of his time of services so far in the holy diaconate. Additionally, our own Daniel Watkins will be tonsured as a reader.
The schedule of services at the Protection of the Mother of God Church in Rochester for this weekend are here listed. On Saturday evening, confessions will be heard beginning at 5:00 pm and during the Vigil service as needed. The All-Night Vigil will begin at 6:30 pm. Then, on Sunday, the day of the Feast, the Meeting of the Bishop will take place at 9:30 am followed by the Hours and Divine Liturgy. Following the Divine Liturgy, there will be a festal meal provided by the parish's Sisterhood for which a donation is requested.
Please make effort to be in attendance for this blessed feast day and prepare yourselves to receive the Holy Gifts at the Liturgy. It will be a great blessing to be with our brothers and sisters in Rochester, to celebrate with our much-beloved Vladyka HILARION, and to pray for the continued ministry of Dcn. Andrew and (soon-to-be Reader) Daniel.
